Jacques AttaliDoctorate in Economic Sciences, Jacques Attali is also graduated from the École Polytechnique, the École des Mines, the Institut d'Études Politiques (Institute for Political Studies) and from the École Nationale de l'Administration. He taught economics at the École Polytechnique, the École des Ponts et Chaussées and at the University of Paris-Dauphine.

Professor, writer, special counsellor to the President of the French Republic from 1981 to 1991, founder and first president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London from 1991 to 1993, Jacques Attali is now president of A&A, an international consulting company specialized in new technologies and based in Paris, and he is the founder and president of PlaNet Finance, a non-governmental organization.

He founded in 1980 Action Internationale Contre la Faim, a non- governmental organization, and the European program Eurêka (a major European program on new technologies) in 1984. He also launched in 1989 a program of action for the disastrous floods of Bangladesh. He wrote 38 books, essays, novels and theatre plays, translated in more than twenty languages.
